Parent & Participant Code of Conduct Agreement
The Raiders Wrestling Club of Scotch Plains-Fanwood is committed to providing a safe, positive, respectful, and supportive environment for all wrestlers, families, coaches, officials, and spectators. Our goal is to promote sportsmanship, discipline, teamwork, personal growth, and a love of the sport of wrestling.
Participation in the Raiders Wrestling Club of Scotch Plains-Fanwood is a privilege. As a condition of participation, both the wrestler and their parent(s)/guardian(s) agree to uphold the standards outlined in this Code of Conduct.
Code of Conduct
As a parent/guardian and participant in the Raiders Wrestling Club of Scotch Plains-Fanwood, we agree to the following:
1. Respect for Others
We will treat all wrestlers, coaches, officials, parents, volunteers, opponents, and spectators with respect and dignity at all times.
2. Zero Tolerance for Abusive or Harmful Behavior
We will not engage in physical, verbal, or emotional abuse, harassment, bullying, intimidation, threats, or humiliation of any wrestler, coach, official, parent, volunteer, opponent, or spectator.
3. Appropriate Language and Behavior
We will refrain from profanity, insulting remarks, threatening language, inappropriate gestures, or other disrespectful conduct directed toward wrestlers, coaches, officials, parents, opponents, or spectators.
4. Respect for Coaches and Officials
Wrestlers will listen to and follow the reasonable instructions of coaches, staff, and officials. Parents and guardians will respect coaching decisions and the decisions of referees and other officials. Concerns should be addressed calmly and appropriately with the coaching staff at a suitable time and place.
5. Sportsmanship
We will demonstrate good sportsmanship in both victory and defeat. We will encourage our teammates, respect our opponents, and represent the Raiders Wrestling Club of Scotch Plains-Fanwood in a positive manner at practices, competitions, tournaments, and other club activities.
6. Respect for Facilities and Equipment
We will respect all facilities, wrestling mats, equipment, locker rooms, and property used by the program. Any intentional damage may result in disciplinary action and financial responsibility for the damage.
7. Safety and Team Environment
We will conduct ourselves in a manner that supports the safety and well-being of everyone involved in the program. Behavior that creates an unsafe, hostile, or disruptive environment will not be tolerated.
Reporting of Suspected Child Abuse or Maltreatment
The Raiders Wrestling Club of Scotch Plains-Fanwood is committed to the safety and protection of every child participating in our program. Any allegation, report, disclosure, or reasonable suspicion of child abuse or maltreatment involving a wrestler—including allegations involving another wrestler, parent/guardian, coach, volunteer, staff member, or other individual associated with the program—will be taken seriously.
Any such allegation or suspicion brought to the attention of the Raiders Wrestling Club of Scotch Plains-Fanwood will be promptly reported to law enforcement and/or the appropriate child-protection authorities in accordance with applicable law so that the matter can be evaluated and investigated by the proper authorities.
Coaches, volunteers, parents, wrestlers, and club leadership should not attempt to conduct their own investigation, determine the credibility of an allegation, or discourage any individual from making a report to the appropriate authorities.
When appropriate for the immediate safety and welfare of the children involved, the Raiders Wrestling Club of Scotch Plains-Fanwood may temporarily restrict or suspend an individual's participation in club practices, competitions, events, facilities, or other activities while the matter is being reviewed or investigated. Such action is a precautionary safety measure and does not constitute a determination of guilt or wrongdoing.
The Raiders Wrestling Club of Scotch Plains-Fanwood will cooperate with law enforcement, child-protection authorities, and other appropriate agencies investigating allegations involving the safety or welfare of a child.
Retaliation, intimidation, harassment, or threats against any person who in good faith reports suspected abuse, raises a child-safety concern, or participates in an investigation are strictly prohibited and may result in immediate disciplinary action, including suspension or removal from the program.
Disciplinary Action
Failure by a wrestler, parent, or guardian to comply with this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action. The appropriate consequence will be determined based on the nature, severity, frequency, and circumstances of the conduct.
Disciplinary action may include, but is not limited to:
- Verbal warning and documentation of the incident.
- Removal from a practice, match, tournament, team event, or other Raiders Wrestling Club of Scotch Plains-Fanwood activity.
- Removal from the facility in which a club activity is being held.
- Temporary suspension from practices, competitions, events, and/or other club activities.
- Suspension from all Raiders Wrestling Club of Scotch Plains-Fanwood activities for a period determined by the coaching staff and/or club leadership.
- Indefinite or permanent removal from the Raiders Wrestling Club of Scotch Plains-Fanwood.
- When appropriate, notification of facility management, tournament/event officials, governing organizations, or law enforcement.
Unless otherwise determined by club leadership, a participant who is suspended or removed from the program for a violation of this Code of Conduct will not be entitled to a full or partial refund of registration fees or other program fees already paid.
The Raiders Wrestling Club of Scotch Plains-Fanwood reserves the right to impose disciplinary action appropriate to the circumstances and is not required to apply disciplinary measures in a particular order. Serious conduct may result in immediate suspension or removal from the program.
Physical, Verbal, or Emotional Abuse
Violations involving physical aggression, threats, bullying, harassment, or verbal or emotional abuse will be treated seriously.
For wrestler violations, a first offense may result in suspension from the wrestler's next eligible match or competition. A second offense may result in an extended or indefinite suspension, as determined by the coaching staff and club leadership.
Serious incidents may result in immediate suspension or removal from the program regardless of whether a prior offense has occurred.
Acknowledgment
By signing below, we acknowledge that we have read, understand, and agree to follow the Raiders Wrestling Club of Scotch Plains-Fanwood Parent & Participant Code of Conduct. We understand that failure to comply with these expectations may result in disciplinary action, including suspension or removal from the program without refund.
We further acknowledge that allegations or reasonable suspicions of child abuse or maltreatment may be reported to law enforcement and/or appropriate child-protection authorities in accordance with applicable law.
